For those who want to follow a long this is the starting area.

Story Setting

City

Serenity Bay

Population: Large City (think New York City)

Economy: Primarily Fishing, Lobster, Crab, Squid, and several species of fish.

History:

Serenity Bay was founded by the Royal Elder Family soon after their revolt of the dominating rule of the Thrall. That was over one hundred years ago and the city has grown and is the center of fishing trade in the kingdom.


Royal Family:

King Edward Elder is the son of William and Juliet Elder. He has ruled over the Western Kingdom for almost 15 years now. King Edward is married to Elisabeth O'Hare together they have two sons Alexander and Thomas Elder with one daughter Lillian Elder. He makes his home in Serenity where his father's before him ruled.


Places of Interest:

Time Bandit Inn:

The Time Bandit has been apart of the bay for years and is a favorite for the king's navy men, other local fishermen, and ship owners. The inn's entrance is in the shape of a giant fishing barrel laying on its side with the "Time Bandit" burned across the doorway.

Rooms are 10 copper a night for one bedroom, two bedroom are 1 silver 50 copper and a suite that has access to a private bath and can hold up to four people are 2 silver 15 copper and have access to a private bathing room. There is a bath house for 5 copper.
Three meals are served in the dining hall breakfast, lunch and dinner and are 5 copper a plate.
Ale is 2 copper.

The Bardic Knowledge Library:

Founded by Phoebe Highlander at the request of King Elder, shortly after the war. The Bardic Knowledge Library is one of the largest buildings in town aside from the temple and King Elder's castle. It contains the works of many power wizards of the past, the travels of well known bards even from Phoebe herself and the complete history of the bay. There are some sections of the library that are restricted and access is only given to those with written permission by the king himself. (For any non-restricted areas you gain a +4 bonus on all knowledge checks done while in the library.)

New Addition:
A museum has been built to display all the art and artifacts collected throughout Serenity's history. Works from local artists and treasures telling the tales of epic battles during the wars.

Government:

The royal council appoints its members over the cities throughout the kingdom. Lady Julia, one of the most senior council member, is assigned over MoonShade. Her and her family have been faithful to watch over the city and its residences. ((Since the attempt on her life, the city has been on lockdown until the assassin is captured. Anyone entering has to check in with the guard at the gate and be disarmed of all weapons. Weapons will be given back once the person or persons leave. Anyone caught with a weapon inside city walls will be thrown in the dungeon.))

Main Taverns:

The Rusty Sword Saloon - one of the more busier tavern's in the town, known for their wide range of beverage. Owner/bartender named Barrick who is a dwarf. bald on top with reddish hair around his ears and also a red beard.



Peasant's Barrel - the more rough and tumble bar a lot of BIGGER characters run around here located near the coast on the port. Its owned by a group of merchants.


Succubus’s Blues Tavern - walking by one can smell burning incense and sweet perfume. Blue shades cover the windows. The soft sound of violin music floats through the air. Its a place for rest and ...other things...

The mysterious casino cruise ship, which was currently acquired by Paragon Inc. The ship has had only one Capt that didn't die while in command of the boat.

An inventor and clock maker has some explaining to do. The crafty rogue in the party figured out that all the traps used thus far have been made by the same person with the same components. One of the pieces that she dismantled had on it B.H. Showing it to a member of an inventor's guild found that it was a similar part that had been used by Bernard Hammerhook. Is he working for the Black Hand and now on the run?

Vampire Hunt:

((Players! You both have traveled into town together this evening and decided to stay at the Time Bandit Inn. The bartender advised you of the rates at the inn and set both of you up with two free mugs of ale. Its the end of the day and has been fairly quiet. Both of you sit at the back of the bar at a table. A cute waitress already has taken your order for the blue plate special, boiled potatoes and roast. ))

The sun slowly sank into the sea as the day came to an end. Lights from the nearby pubs and taverns burn brightly as the fisherman and the like drown their sorrows in drink and bards sing the tails of long ago filled with pirates, mermaids, and mounds of treasure. The most lively one of them all is called the Time Bandit Inn. Tucked away from the less than hostile pubs and where some of the king's navy and the more respected fisherman tend to go. Except for tonight...

"I knew it was a matter of time before someone would try to get rid of her. Too bad they missed."

The drunk continued, "Julia should have figured out her place along time ago, and that's in the kitchen!" A roar of laughter shot through the small group of men near the bar.

"Aye, Pete," his friend agreed. "Kane will straighten her out if you know what I mean."

"Someone should straighten you out, sir," a voice from a nearby table spoke rather loudly as they stood and turned to face the group. The group turned to see who the voice belonged to.

"Look, at what we got here boys," the one called Pete hollered, discovering it was a young woman. "Go home to your husband, girl." His friends again erupted in laughter

Grinning triumphantly, Pete raised his mug once more, but before it reached his lips, it shattered in his hand. Ale and shards of glass flew everywhere. "What the hell.."

Almost as fast as the first, another dagger was in her hand and at the ready. "I could have easily just killed you for insults to the Lady Julia." Adding with a smirk, "I may still for being a drunken pig. Apologize."

Maybe it was having too much ale, or maybe he didn't think her serious. Pete stood drawing his rusty looking sword. "Who do you think you are?" he yelled, looking as if he was going to start swinging. His barstool crashing to the ground. A silence blanketed the rest of the bar and everyone stared.

A chuckle broke the silence emitted from the young woman, "I am Lady Faith Brigade."

The man froze and merely stared at her with his mouth hanging open. "Please forgive him, milady," Pete's friend spoke in a rather shaky voice. "My buddy here didn't mean any harm. Just jesting, brought on by too much ale."

Faith was known for her quick temper and skill with the lightest of blades. No one dared challenge her, much less insult her mother within ear shot. And though Faith and her mother didn’t always see eye to eye, she was still family.

Pete barely had time to blink before she had moved across the room, taking him by the shirt collar. The tip of her dagger was resting just below his chin. His eyes darted in every direction and watched helplessly as his friends scattered.

"Apologize" she said through gritted teeth. She could smell the ale on his breath.

"Let him go Faith," a firm male voice called from behind her.

"Not until he apologizes." Faith yelled, holding Pete's collar harder.

"I said let him go. He's harmless." the man replied again, this time raising his voice

"Capt Malic, I will not be..." Faith growled

"NOW!" Malic roared

With a low growl, she let him go, the drunk falling almost backwards onto his bar stool. Not wasting a moment longer, throwing what coins he had on the bar for his tab, Pete ran out of the tavern.

The man approached Faith, exchanging a few quiet words with her before leaving, the look of annoyance on her face didn’t change. She kicked up one of the bar stools and planted herself back on it. Motioning for the bartender to pour her some more ale.

Vadagun looks over at Valerius with a slight smile "Finally a little excitement in this place." His head then begins to swivel as his eyes dart around around the room as if looking for someone. After a few seconds go by he slowly turns his head back to Valerius with a giant smirk on this face "Now where did that waitress go? You know priorities friend!"

Valerius nods his head in agreement, he was ready for a bit of fun. "Its about time we had our selves a good time. I think that waitress ducked in to the back, I'll go find her and set up the deal, you head up to our rooms and make sure everything is ready so I can get good price off this one."He got up from the table with a sly grin on his face and walked toward the bar, as he passed the woman named Faith he placed a piece of parchment by her arm and walked to the back of the inn. On the paper he had wrote that he and his companion would deal with the man named Pete and his friends before dark watch starts that night but only after the took care of another buisness deal, and they would do it at a bargain price if she only wanted them roughed up a bit.

Faith read the parchment and raised an eyebrow towards the man who left it. The hoodlums that disrespected her mother should be taught a lesson, but she wasn't so sure she wanted someone else doing her dirty work for her. Ordering another ale from the bar she waited for the man to return.


The waitress was busy back in the kitchen, filling orders for customers and making sure the cook was still well stocked. She hadn't noticed anyone had come in when the man (Valerius) came in from the front of the bar and was slightly startled when she turned and faced him. "Aye, sir? Can I help you?" she asked

Vadagun got up from the table and headed to get prepared for the nights festivities.

Valerius stood before the young woman clad in plain brown robes with the cowl drawn up over his head that cast his face in shadow as he had since they entered town.There was a slight scent of rain about him that people noticed when he passed close to them."I have an offer for you.My companion that I travel with is looking for a bit of...shall we say entertainment..[a small grin comes across his face but he conceals it from her view] He has taken a liking to you and wishes your company tonight. Now I am fine with this but I my self am a businessman and ask that a small price of say 1 silver for two nights, now I'm not saying you have to pay up front but just keep it in mind, he has away with people that most find irresistible. I believe you know our rooms, hope to see you there. He then turned and walked up to his room smiling to himself.

((Roll a listen check to see if you can hear what the waitress said as you left, Val. ))


Vadagun - As you left the table you notice a man leaning against the bar near the stairs. He's got a hood over his face partly and is smoking a cigar. A sweet smell of strawberries comes from the smoke. He seems not to care that you see him watching you, and merely nods at you as you walk by.

(rolls Listen check and roll a 9 so 9+4(skill)=13 total check).

Val turns back and heads up to his room."Its her loss then, most would love to be in the company of a half-gold dragon and well...me but now is not the time to reveal myself yet."he thought to himself. Once he reached his room he opened the door but did not walk in right away, instead he reached into the sleeve of his robe and pulled out a crystal that was just barley the size of the palm of his hand and was read in color but glowed with what could be a fierce light but seemed soft at the same time.Is it time for a fight yet huh huh huh?a voice similar to his own asked in his head.No, not yet. I want you to keep watch of the top stairs make sure that no one sees you and let me know if either of the young waitresses comes up, I perhaps shouldn't have made the sales pitch so early but none the less there is a chance they may come up, they have let someone know that may be a guard so be on the look out for the man she mentioned and let me know if he is coming up here.he replied to the voice that had spoke in his mind but was looking at the crystal.The voice did not reply but the crystal sprouted little spidery ectoplasmic legs and scuried down his robes and positioned it's self near the top of the stairs to keep watch.Val walked in his room and shut the door and sat in the middle of the room on the floor and began to meditate.

As Vadagun notices the man watching him, he thinks to himself "What does this guy want?" and continues walking toward the man to head up the stairs. Upon seeing the man nod at him, he get's a puzzled look on his face, nods back and says "I'm sorry, I don't swing that way." Vadagun then continues on up the stairs and to his room. Upon reaching the door, Vadagun pulls out the key, unlocks and opens the door, and walks in. Just a few feet inside the room, he takes off his shirt revealing his ripped body, and toss the shirt off into the corner of the room. Vadagun then glances back at the open door and thinks "Hmmm I'll go ahead and leave it open in case the waitress shows up, that way she can let herself in." He then walks over to the bed, lays down and stares at the open door, waiting for her to show up.

Valerius took a moment to regain his composer and began to analize the vision. (Int check 14+5=19).

Vadagun sits up, bringing his legs up enough to rest his arms on his knees, and begins to contemplate what just happened. "Hmm, It's something that I've done several times before, without anything like this happening.....I mean I have 134 kids running around in random places, or at least....the last time I counted it was 134.....though maybe that's the reason why. Oh well at least it was all with no strings attached. None of them are my problem. Guess I should go see what Val is doing so we can meet back up with, what was her name again Faith?" Vadagun then gets up off the bed, and walks over to the corner where he threw his shirt. He then grabs his shirt, puts it on, and heads out the door locking it behind him. From there he walks down the hall to Val's door, and bangs on it with the side of his fist. "Are you in there Val?" He then points down the hall in the direction of the stairs. "I think it's time we go help the fiery one, with the chicken."

Val heard Vadagun knock on the door.I'm here, just had a vision come out of no where, it was very odd."He got up and grabbed his bag of Holding and opened the door.Yes lets go take care of that little problem, I have some questions that they may be able to point me in the right direction, but first we will have a little lesson in respect towards other.and started to head down the stairs his psicrystal hoping on and tucking its self back in his robes as he passed.

Vadagun drops his still pointing arm, and follows Val down the stairs, checking to see if the man is still at the bar near the base of the stairs.
